Is There a Pan-Latinx Identity in Europe?

SEASON 1, EPISODE 4 - March 9, 2019

Parisians don't like to dance, but DJ Mafe Maracuyeah is trying to change that, one DJ set at a time. The Colombian-born, American-raised DJ has been living in Paris for five years and regularly spins Latin alternative music at Mexican mezcalerías around town. Mafe is also one of the creators of the Latin Beat Machine - Festival Electro Latino in Paris, which this summer will celebrate its third edition.

Just like Mafe, other Latinx DJs and producers are representing Latinx music and culture around el viejo continente: Colombian Isa GT spent many years in London and is now based in Berlin, where she champions Delicia Latina queer Latinx parties. Isa also runs the music label Etoro Records. Musicologist, DJ, producer, artist Rigo Pex, known for his work as Meneo, originally from Guatemala, has been in Spain for 18 years and is currently behind the musical act Peinetta in Madrid.

I speak to all of them via Skype and WhatsApp about our "liquid identities" as Rigo put it, and of course, also bring you new music from the LatinXTransfer digital universe.
